PM Tarique Rahman exchanges greetings with Hindu community on Janmashtami

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with prominent members of the Hindu community at a Janmashtami programme in Dhaka and distributed honorariums among priests and temple caretakers.

He joined the programme at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital around 10am on Thursday (September 3), said his Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.

Culture Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury welcomed the prime minister at the event. Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, State Minister Mohammad Shamim Kaisar and Prime Minister’s Adviser with ministerial rank Mohammad Ismail Jabiullah were also present on the stage.

The programme was organised to mark Janmashtami, the Hindu festival commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna. Besides exchanging greetings with members of the Hindu community, the prime minister distributed honorariums among priests and temple caretakers.
