PM congratulates tigers after Australia Test triumph

Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman congratulated the national cricket team via video call after their historic nine-wicket victory over Australia in the first Test in Darwin on Sunday (August 16), Bangladesh’s first Test win on Australian soil.

The prime minister was travelling to Kishoreganj when Bangladesh completed the landmark victory. After the result, he spoke to the players over a video call and conveyed his congratulations on behalf of the people of Bangladesh.

Tarique Rahman praised the team’s determination, confidence, skill and collective effort in defeating one of the world’s strongest Test sides on home soil. He also congratulated the players, coaching staff and everyone involved in the victory.

The prime minister expressed hope that Bangladesh would maintain their momentum in the second Test and seize the opportunity to secure a historic series win.

The victory marked Bangladesh’s second Test win over Australia. Their previous success came in 2017, when they defeated Australia in Mirpur. Bangladesh now lead the two-match series 1-0 and need only a draw in the second Test to claim a series victory.
