PM Tarique Rahman inaugurates July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum in Dhaka

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday (August 5) inaugurated the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum in the capital, marking a major milestone in preserving the legacy of the 2024 student-led movement.

The museum, located in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, was officially opened at 9:00am with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.

Following the inauguration, the prime minister toured the museum's galleries, where he viewed exhibits featuring artefacts, photographs, archival documents and memorabilia documenting the events, sacrifices and public participation that shaped the July Mass Uprising.

According to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the museum will be opened to the public from Thursday.

The inauguration ceremony also featured testimonies from July fighters and family members of those killed during the movement, who shared their experiences and memories.

A documentary highlighting the course of the uprising, the role of ordinary citizens and the movement's historical significance was screened during the event.

The museum has been established to preserve the history of the July Mass Uprising and commemorate those who lost their lives or were injured during the nationwide movement.
