PM Tarique Rahman invites Qatari investment in Bangladesh
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sent a letter to Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, inviting greater Qatari investment in Bangladesh and encouraging investors from the Gulf nation to explore opportunities across various sectors.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed the development on Friday (July 24).
According to the ministry, Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman met Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, on the sidelines of an event marking the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) in Southeast Asia in Manila, the Philippines.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, expand trade and investment, and enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
On the occasion, the foreign minister handed over an invitation letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed to the Amir of Qatar. In the letter, the prime minister called for increased Qatari investment in Bangladesh and deeper economic cooperation between the two countries.
