PM Tarique Rahman joins Children’s Rights Day, Shishu Academy jubilee event
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today joined a programme marking Children’s Rights Day 2026 and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
The three-day event began at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy in Dhaka on Tuesday (October 6) and will continue through October 8 under the theme “Let Every Child Have a Secure Future.”
Around 150 children welcomed the prime minister upon his arrival at the venue. The programme then began with the national anthem.
Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain chaired the programme. Prime Minister’s wife and Ziaur Rahman Foundation Vice-Chairperson Dr Zubaida Rahman was also present.
The day’s programme includes cultural performances by children, the distribution of commemorative gifts and the unveiling of the souvenir “Shoishob”.
Tarique Rahman is also scheduled to interact with children from different parts of the country through a videoconference and visit an exhibition of children’s paintings and a photo gallery.
After the main programme, the prime minister is scheduled to visit the Children’s Museum building, where he will inaugurate a newly installed solar panel system and substation.
The Bangladesh Shishu Academy, established in 1976, is celebrating its golden jubilee this year. In a message issued ahead of the event, Tarique Rahman said ensuring a safe and risk-free childhood, quality education, healthcare, adequate nutrition and opportunities for sports and cultural activities for every child was a firm government commitment.
