Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday (August 8) inaugurated a doctors’ rally organised by the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) to mark the organisation’s 37th founding anniversary.

The rally was inaugurated at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad complex, where Tarique Rahman attended the programme as the chief guest.

Before the main event began, the prime minister planted a neem sapling on the parliament premises. His wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, also planted a tree.

The anniversary programme formally began with the national anthem and the hoisting of the organisation’s flag. Tarique and Zubaida later released two pigeons as a symbol of peace before the main doctors’ rally got underway at the LD Hall.

DAB leaders and members from different parts of the country joined the gathering, creating a festive atmosphere on the parliament premises as the organisation marked its anniversary.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Dr Zubaida Rahman, DAB President Prof Dr Harun Al Rashid, DAB Secretary General Dr Md Zahirul Islam Shakil and other leaders of the organisation were present at the event.

The Doctors Association of Bangladesh has long been involved in advocating for doctors’ professional rights, improving healthcare services and promoting the welfare of medical professionals.

The anniversary gathering brought together doctors and leaders from various levels of the organisation as part of this year’s programme.
