New PM Tarique Rahman to begin office at secretariat tomorrow
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will begin his first official working day at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday (February 18), a day after the new BNP-led government is sworn in.
The new administration is being formed on Tuesday following the oath-taking of newly elected lawmakers at 10:00am, to be administered by Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin. Members of the new cabinet will take oath later in the day.
According to Cabinet Division sources, the prime minister will lay a wreath at the National Memorial in Savar at 10:00am on Wednesday. He is scheduled to arrive at the Secretariat around 12:30pm to begin official duties at his office under the Cabinet Division.
During the day, he will exchange views with officials of the Cabinet Division and hold a special meeting of the cabinet at 3:00pm.
No specific agenda has been set for the meeting, officials said.
The prime minister is also scheduled to hold a meeting with secretaries at 4:00pm as part of his first-day engagements.
