PM Tarique Rahman visits ailing Mirza Abbas at hospital
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday (March 13) visited ailing BNP Standing Committee member and his political adviser Mirza Abbas at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
The prime minister arrived at the hospital around 2:20pm and spent some time at Abbas’s bedside, inquiring about his health condition.
He also directed the authorities concerned to arrange advanced treatment for the veteran politician in Singapore at the earliest.
According to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Abbas is scheduled to be flown to Singapore by an air ambulance at 6:00pm on Friday. He will be admitted to the neuroscience department of National University Hospital for further treatment.
Abbas was admitted to Evercare Hospital late Wednesday night after he suddenly lost consciousness while drinking water during iftar.
The senior BNP leader was recently elected as a lawmaker from the Dhaka-8 parliamentary constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election, defeating Nasiruddin Patwary, chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP).
His wife Afroza Abbas, president of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, has sought prayers from the country’s people for his speedy recovery.
