PM to confer Ekushey Padak today

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will confer the state’s prestigious Ekushey Padak 2026 today in recognition of distinguished contributions in various fields.

The award ceremony will be held at 11:00am at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Thursday (February 26).

Recipients from areas such as arts, literature, culture, and research will receive the medal, a citation, and a cash prize.

Cabinet members, senior military and civilian officials, and invited dignitaries will attend the event, which will be presided over by the Prime Minister.

Each awardee will receive a medal, a citation and a cash prize from the prime minister.

Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Amar Ekushey Book Fair at the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan, visit the fairgrounds, and meet with writers and publishers.

Authorities said special security measures have been put in place in the capital centring the day’s programmes.
