Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the 500-bed second unit of the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in the capital on August 15, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has said.
He made the announcement at a preparatory meeting for the inauguration of the hospital's second unit on Sunday, July 5.

On the dengue situation, the minister said the government has been working on preparations for the past two months. Coordinated committees have been formed in each district, cleanliness drives are underway, activities to destroy mosquito larvae have been implemented, adequate saline stocks have been ensured, mobile hospitals are ready and doctors have been trained. He claimed the dengue situation this year is comparatively better than last year.
Health State Minister Dr M A Muhith said plans are in place to establish neuroscience institutes in at least four old divisional cities as part of healthcare decentralisation. He noted the important role of the National Institute of Neurosciences in creating specialist doctors for this purpose.
