PM to inaugurate honorarium programme for all religious representatives on Saturday
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to formally inaugurate the honorarium payment programme for imams, muazzins and all religious representatives, aimed at providing state recognition and support to the country's religious leaders.
The programme will be launched at 10 am on Saturday, March 14, at the capital's Osmani Memorial Auditorium.
The information was conveyed in an urgent message from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday, March 12. The message, sent by ministry public relations officer Imranul Hasan, stated that this initiative will fulfill the long-standing expectations of the country's religious servants.
The inauguration ceremony will not only cover imams and muazzins but also bring other religious representatives under this honorarium programme. According to available information, the initiative will simultaneously launch honorarium payments for mosque khadem, temple priests and sebayets, and Buddhist vihara principals and vice-principals on the same day.
The government's initiative is seen as a significant step towards strengthening communal harmony and improving the living standards of servants of religious institutions. Following the announcement, widespread enthusiasm has been observed among the country's religious representatives.
The ministry has stated that the honorarium distribution process will be conducted with transparency.
