Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will travel in his own car instead of using official vehicle. BNP media cell member Atiqur Rahman Rumon gave this information on Wednesday.

Rumon said, “The Prime Minister will use his own car, his own driver and fuel purchased by himself. In today’s programme, he went to Savar and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in his Toyota car and came to the Secretariat from there.”

To reduce traffic congestion, the number of the Prime Minister’s motorcade has been reduced to four as 13-14 cars were used earlier. The Prime Minister used a flagless vehicle in the first day’s programme after taking the oath. However, the car will have a flag during state functions or visits by foreign guests.

Rumon also said that the Prime Minister has decided to hold cabinet meetings at the Secretariat so as to reduce the transportation problems of ministers and the suffering of the common people.

This morning, he rode a white Toyota car from his Gulshan residence to Savar to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War. Then, he laid wreaths at the graves of late President Ziaur Rahman and late Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Cabinet members were present at both places. Later, he went to the Secretariat and participated in the first meeting of the cabinet.
