PM to visit ailing Mirza Abbas at hospital today
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister's Political Adviser Mirza Abbas, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, after Jummah prayers today, Friday, March 13.
Deputy Press Secretary Sujan Mahmud has confirmed the matter. He informed that the veteran leader was quickly admitted to hospital after suddenly falling ill during Iftar last Wednesday.
Mirza Abbas's media team reported that he suddenly lost consciousness while drinking water that day. Later, as his condition did not improve, he was taken to hospital late at night. He is currently under intensive observation. A medical board has been formed for his treatment.
Earlier on Thursday night, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman visited the hospital to inquire about Mirza Abbas's physical condition. At that time, he spoke with Mirza Abbas's wife Afroza Abbas and wished for his speedy recovery. He was accompanied by Dr SM Khaliduzzaman, President of Jamaat's Dhaka Metropolitan North Medical Thana.
Additionally, BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, along with several other government ministers and top party leaders, visited the hospital to inquire about Mirza Abbas's treatment. Among them were Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Social Welfare Minister Professor Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain. They spoke with attending doctors about the overall treatment situation.
