PM unveils commemorative postage stamp marking National Rural Development Day
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has unveiled a commemorative postage stamp to mark National Rural Development Day 2026, reaffirming the government's commitment to promoting sustainable rural development and strengthening the country's rural economy.
The unveiling ceremony was held at the Prime Minister's Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (July 5) under this year's theme, "Developed Villages, Prosperous Nation — Bangladesh First."
According to Deputy Press Secretary Md. Sujauddoula (Sujon Mahmud), the commemorative package includes a Tk 10 postage stamp, a first-day cover, and a Tk 5 data card, all issued in observance of the national day.
The ceremony was attended by Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, and LGRD and Cooperatives Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan, among other senior officials.
Observed annually on July 6, National Rural Development Day highlights the importance of strengthening rural communities and recognizes contributions to Bangladesh's rural economy and development.
As part of the annual observance, the Bangladesh Post Office traditionally issues commemorative stamps, first-day covers and data cards to promote public awareness of the day's significance and the country's rural development agenda.
