Poet Mohon Raihan to receive Bangla Academy Literary Award: Ministry

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has finalised the decision to award poet Mohon Raihan the Bangla Academy Literary Award for 2026.

Earlier, after the announcement of the award, criticism arose in various newspapers and social media. In response, the award was temporarily suspended and a decision was taken to review the allegations raised.

An emergency meeting was held at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Friday, February 27, to verify the allegations. The Cultural Affairs Minister, State Minister and Secretary were present at the meeting.

After reviewing the allegations and with the consent of the Prime Minister, the decision to award poet Mohon Raihan the 2026 Bangla Academy Literary Award has been finalised.

The award will be presented to him at Bangla Academy on Monday, March 2, at 11 am.
