Police deployed at Khan Jahan Ali shrine in Bagerhat after Kushtia attack
Additional police have been deployed and security strengthened at the shrine of Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali (RA) in Bagerhat following the attack on a darbar and killing of a pir in Daulatpur, Kushtia.
On Monday morning, April 13, police personnel were seen on alert duty around the pond and various areas of the shrine premises.
Locals said several police personnel were also deployed at the main gate of the shrine. However, they were not willing to speak publicly about the specific reason for their deployment and also refused to allow photographs.
Sub-Inspector Touhiduzzaman, on duty at the scene, told Views Bangladesh that they are performing their duties as part of overall security following the attack on a darbar in Kushtia.
He later added that security measures in the shrine area have been strengthened considering the overall situation as well as recent incidents.
Bagerhat Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mahmud-ul-Hasan told Views Bangladesh that police have been deployed at the shrine not solely due to the Kushtia incident but as part of ensuring overall security of the shrine.
Earlier on Saturday, an attack and arson took place at a darbar in Daulatpur, Kushtia, in which Pir Shamim Reza Jahangir was killed.
