Police enforce tight security at Awami League central office in Gulistan

On the occasion of the 50th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, law enforcement agencies have taken stringent security measures in and around the Awami League’s central office in Gulistan.

Since early Friday morning (August 15), a visible police presence has been deployed in the area, with officers and members of intelligence agencies monitoring movement and gatherings, aims to prevent any untoward incidents or unauthorized assemblies.

No reports of violence or sabotage have emerged from Gulistan as of this afternoon, and the situation remains under control.

However, on Thursday night, three individuals believed to be Awami League supporters were allegedly beaten by students near Dhanmondi Road No. 32 and later handed over to police. Additionally, several people were reportedly harassed while paying respects at the site of Sheikh Mujib’s residence on Friday morning.

Despite the incidents, law enforcement agencies have not made any arrests in connection with the harassment.
