Police headquarters issues highest alert nationwide

The Police Headquarters has issued the highest alert across the country over fears of possible sabotage targeting police vehicles . Intelligence agencies have received information that members of militant organisations or miscreants may attack police jeeps, pickups, buses and other vehicles. Based on this, field-level units have been directed to immediately strengthen security measures.

The directive was issued in an emergency message on Saturday (August 1). It stated that there is no room for complacency or negligence in ensuring the security of police vehicles. Maximum caution must be exercised, particularly for vehicles on duty and those parked after duty hours .

The message said if a vehicle on duty needs to be temporarily stopped, it must be parked in a safe location and kept under constant surveillance by police personnel. Under no circumstances should a vehicle be left unattended without the driver or the designated officer—a strict ban has been imposed on leaving any police vehicle unattended.

Additionally, security for all government vehicles parked after duty at police stations, police lines, office compounds or other designated locations must be enhanced. Regular patrols, necessary surveillance and special vigilance to identify suspicious persons or objects at these locations have been emphasised.

Describing the matter as "extremely important," the message called on officials of all metropolitan areas, ranges, districts and units across the country to strictly implement the directives .
