Police Officer Sajjad's bail stayed, ordered to surrender
The Chamber Court of the Appellate Division has stayed the High Court's bail order for police officer Sajjad Uz Zaman, who is accused of suppressing the anti-discrimination movement.
Additionally, he has been instructed to surrender to the authorities.
Chamber Judge Justice Md. Rezaul Haque issued the order on Wednesday (August 20), following a state petition seeking the suspension of Sajjad's bail.
Sajjad, a former Jatrabari Police SI, was granted bail in a case over the fatal shooting of student Imam Hasan Taim during the July mass movement.
A day before the suspension order, families of July–August protest victims demonstrated at the Secretariat, demanding SI Sajjad’s arrest and alleging he attacked a victim’s family after his release.
