Police on highest alert over political party's founding anniversary, Muharram: DMP

Police are on the highest alert to prevent any sabotage or untoward incidents centring the founding anniversary of a political party today, June 23, and the ongoing month of Muharram, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Police Commissioner S N Nazrul Islam has said.

Speaking to journalists after visiting Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi 32 on Tuesday morning, June 23, the additional commissioner said adequate police personnel have been deployed in the capital and other important areas. The BGB and army are also performing duties in Dhaka and several surrounding districts.

"We have not received any reports of untoward incidents so far. We hope no unpleasant situation will arise in the remaining time. The people of Dhaka will remain safe, insha Allah. We are making every effort," he said.
