Police ordered to strengthen special operations to stop terrorism, extortion

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moynul Islam has ordered the head of all police units to strengthen the ongoing special operations against terrorism, robberies, extortion, drugs, juvenile gangs, traffic management etc.

He gave this order in a special message on Monday (October 28).

Actions are being taken against those who attacked the students in the anti-discrimination movement, the accused in the important murder case and other cases in the nationwide special campaign that started on October 18.

Combing operations are being conducted in crime prone areas in the ongoing operation. Along with the permanent police checkposts, temporary checkposts have been set up. Police patrols have been strengthened and intelligence surveillance has been increased. Mobile patrol and motorcycle patrol teams have been increased.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has 150 permanent and mobile checkposts operational in the area. Some 300 motorcycle teams and 250 patrol teams are operational. In addition, legal action continues to be taken against criminals across the country.
