Police raid JSD office in Gulistan, over 50 detained

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has detained more than fifty people from the main office of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) at the GPO intersection in Gulistan of the capital. They were reportedly detained on suspicion of links to the Awami League.

They were detained around 2:30pm today, Saturday, September 26.

A DMP source said more than fifty people were detained from Gulistan on suspicion of links to the banned organisation. Their identities and links are being verified.

Palton Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arifur Islam confirmed the matter and said, "Some people have been brought to the police station based on specific intelligence information. They are being questioned and verified. After verification, legal procedures will be taken in this regard."

DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Aktar Hossain said, "Joy Bangla slogans were raised at JSD's main office and many outsiders were present there, and a meeting was underway. A joint operation by the Crime and Detective Police is underway on such suspicion. In the meantime, more than fifty people have been taken into custody and brought to Palton Police Station. They will be questioned. The operation is still ongoing. The next step will be taken based on the analysis of information and information obtained during questioning."
