Police recovers motorcycle, helmet and fake number plate used in Hadi attack
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTT&C) unit has recovered the motorcycle, helmet and fake number plate used in the shooting attack on Inqilab Mancha Spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
The CTT&C recovered these from Banalata residential area of the capital on Sunday morning, police confirmed on Wednesday (December 17).
Officers located the bike and helmet in the parking area beneath a house in West Agargaon, while the fake number plate was later found discarded inside a manhole.
A CCTV analysis and a secret tip-off that revealed the motorcycle’s registration plate had been tampered with to conceal its identity.
Investigators are tracing the ownership history of the motorcycle, which changed hands eight times before being used in the attack. The vehicle was eventually bought under the name Mainuddin Islam using the national ID card of a key suspect, Muhammad Kabir, who allegedly assisted the prime accused in the case.
The recovered motorcycle, helmet and fake number plate have been handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) for further investigation.
The case stems from the shooting of Hadi on December 12, when he was critically wounded while traveling in an auto-rickshaw in the Purana Paltan area. Police have arrested several suspects and are actively probing the attack as part of ongoing efforts to identify and detain all involved.
