Police uniforms being changed: Home Minister
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that the color of the pants in the new uniform will be changed to khaki.
He said this at a press conference after the first meeting of the National Committee on Coordination, Management and Law and Order of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Citizens at the conference room of the Home Ministry at the Secretariat on Monday (May 4).
Responding to a question from journalists, the Home Minister said that there is dissatisfaction with the existing uniform of the country's police force. There is also an opinion that the current uniform is not acceptable to everyone and does not fit properly.
Salahuddin Ahmed said that the matter has been taken into consideration in view of the police force's application. The upper part (shirt) of the new uniform will be retained as before, which will be used in the metropolitan and across the country. However, the color of the pants is being changed to khaki.
He also said that a decision has been taken in this regard after detailed discussions with the concerned parties. The implementation of the new uniforms will take some time, as it involves preparation, including fabric production. The matter has not yet been officially gazetted. However, a policy decision has been taken and will be implemented soon.
