Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is sending winter pithas to the houses of like-minded patry leaders who boycotted the January 7 polls. The 'winter gift programme' started on Monday and will end on Wednesday. Top leaders of like-minded political parties who took part or extended support to BNP's simultaneous movement to oust the Awami League government are getting the local delicacies as token of thanks. BNP Chairperson's Personal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar is supervising the pitha distribution programme from BNP's Gulshan office. Jhal Pitha, Patisapta, Puli Pitha, Pakon and some other types of pithas have been assorted. BNP Information and Research Secretary Riaz Uddin Nasu, executive member Iqbal Hasan Shyamal and several other leaders are delivering this gift.

গত ৭ জানুয়ারি অনুষ্ঠিত জাতীয় নির্বাচন বর্জনকারী দলগুলোর নেতাদের বাসায় শীতকালীন পিঠা পাঠাচ্ছে বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দল (বিএনপি)। গত সোমবার থেকে শীতের উপহার চলা এই কার্যক্রম বুধবার (৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি) শেষ হবে। সরকার পতনে যুগপৎ আন্দোলনে থাকা সমমনা রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোর শীর্ষ নেতাদের বাড়িতেও পিঠা পাঠিয়েছে দলটি। বিএনপির গুলশান কার্যালয় থেকে পিঠা বিতরণ কর্মসূচি তত্ত্বাবধান করছেন বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসনের ব্যক্তিগত সচিব এবিএম আবদুস সাত্তার। বিএনপি’র পক্ষ থেকে ঝাল পিঠা, পাটিসাপটা, পুলি পিঠা, পাকনসহ আরও কয়েক রকমের পিঠা পাঠানো হয়েছে বলে জানা গেছে। দলের তথ্য ও গবেষণাবিষয়ক সম্পাদক রিয়াজ উদ্দিন নসু, নির্বাহী সদস্য ইকবাল হাসান শ্যামলসহ বিভিন্ন বেশ কয়েকজন নেতা এই উপহার পৌঁছে দিচ্ছেন।
