Portfolios of eight state ministers reshuffled
The government has reassigned the portfolios of eight state ministers, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday (March 4).
Under the new arrangement, several ministries have been redistributed, narrowing or adjusting responsibilities previously held by the ministers.
Md Shariful Alam, who had been in charge of the Commerce, Industries, and Textiles and Jute ministries, will now oversee only the Textiles and Jute Ministry.
Sultan Salauddin Tuku, previously responsible for Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock, and Food ministries, has been assigned solely to the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry.
Habibur Rashid, who held responsibilities for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping, will now oversee the Railways Ministry and the Road Transport and Highways Division.
Md Rajib Ahsan, formerly entrusted with Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping, has been given charge of the Shipping Ministry and the Bridges Division.
Md Junayed Abdur Rahim Saki, who was in charge of the Finance and Planning ministries, will now serve as state minister for the Planning Ministry only.
Farzana Sharmin, previously responsible for Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare, has been assigned to the Social Welfare Ministry.
Md Nurul Haque, who held the Labour and Employment as well as Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment portfolios, will now oversee only the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry.
Bobby Hajjaj, formerly responsible for Education and Primary and Mass Education, will now serve as state minister for the Primary and Mass Education Ministry.
The notification stated that the new distribution of responsibilities takes immediate effect.
