PRAN-RFL to revive 2 closed state-owned textile mills
PRAN-RFL, a leading local industrial group in the country, has been assigned to manage two textile mills belonging to the Bangladesh Textile Corporation (BTMC) through a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
For this purpose, a signing ceremony took place on Sunday, October 27, at a luxury hotel in the capital. Attendees included Brigadier General Sakhawat Hossain, Jute and Textile Adviser; Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute; Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Chairman and CEO of Pran-RFL Group; and Brigadier General Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Chairman of BTMC, among others.
The Chattogram RR Textile Mills and Rajshahi Textile Mills have been handed over to two subsidiaries of Pran Group through a public-private partnership (PPP). These subsidiaries are Chattogram RR Textile Limited and Barendra Rajshahi Textile Limited.
The chief guest, Brigadier General Sakhawat Hossain, remarked, "These mills can be regarded as abandoned. I am confident that with Pran's involvement, they will generate many job opportunities. In time, they will grow into major brands, benefiting the workers as well. This will create a positive example for others."
"The BTMC mills are situated in key locations within their districts. BTMC and BJMC are open to long-term lease investments in other mills as well. I encourage interested investors to step forward," he added.
Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, chairman of the Pran-RFL group, said, "We have taken over these mills for a period of 30 years, and they will generate many job opportunities. Our goal is to reopen these mills within one month. We plan to create a green factory, utilizing every inch of space. We will even install solar panels in any available areas next to the factories."
"Barendra Rajshali Textile Mills will make its debut as the largest mill in North Bengal. People do not have to leave their homes and go to Dhaka. People of North Bengal will get an opportunity to work in their area," he added.
