President and Chief Adviser pay tribute at National Memorial
On Victory Day, President Md. Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser to the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus paid tribute to the brave martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar.
The President first entered the National Memorial in Savar and paid tribute by placing flowers on the main altar at 6:30am. Then, around 7:10am, Chief Adviser to the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus paid tribute to the martyrs at the altar.
After placing the wreath, the President and the Chief Adviser stood there in silence for a while, paying deep respect to the memory of the brave martyrs of the great Liberation War of 1971.
A smart contingent of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force gave the national salute on this occasion. At this time, a mournful tune was played on the bugle. The President and the Head of Government signed the visitors' book kept in the memorial premises.
The chiefs of the three services, advisers, diplomats, injured and disabled freedom fighters and their families, the Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Division and the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka District were present during the wreath-laying ceremony.
