President congratulates PM on visionary speech at UN

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his visionary, resolute and directive speech at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

The congratulations and good wishes were conveyed in a message sent by the President's Press Wing on Friday, September 25.

In the message, the President congratulated and wished the Prime Minister well for his speech at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Earlier, on Thursday, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman delivered his first speech in Bangla on behalf of Bangladesh at the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York. In his speech, he said Bangladesh wants to establish a prosperous, self-reliant and welfare-oriented democratic state by ensuring the political and economic empowerment of the people.

He said no state can be strong by keeping its citizens powerless.

The development trend must be advanced through democracy, human rights, good governance, accountability and political stability.
