President to address first session of parliament: Info Minister

President Mohammed Shahabuddin will deliver the address at the first session of parliament in line with parliamentary procedures, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahid Uddin Swapan said.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Saturday (March 7) after the second day of a workshop at the BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan.

“All preparations for the president’s address to parliament have been completed,” the minister said.

Swapan said the workshop, designed for parliamentary representatives, is progressing through four sessions, with the third session concluding earlier in the day and the final session scheduled for the afternoon.

He also said BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has outlined a 31-point reform agenda aimed at “repairing the state,” which the party intends to prioritise after being elected by the people.

The minister added that the focus will include serving citizens and ensuring the effective functioning of the legislative branch and the national parliament, while keeping parliament active as the governing party.
