President to address parliament Thursday: Home Minister

Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that President Mohammed Shahabuddin will deliver a speech in first session of the 13th National Parliament tomorrow.

Speaking to reporters after leaving the parliament on Wednesday afternoon (March 11), he said the July Charter would be fully reflected in the proceedings.

“The parliamentary session will begin tomorrow at 11:00am. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected in this parliament, and the President will administer their oath,” he said.

Earlier, the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a parliamentary party meeting at the government party’s conference room in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

Parliament Leader and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman chaired the meeting.

Sources said the meeting discussed overall parliamentary activities, including the upcoming session scheduled to begin on Thursday.
