President to visit Thakurgaon on Sunday
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will visit his hometown of Thakurgaon on Sunday, September 6. This will be his first visit to his home district since assuming office as President.
On the first day of the visit, the President will attend a civic reception as the chief guest. The following day, he will lay the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University.
During the brief visit, the President will also pay respects at the graves of his parents and exchange views with local residents.
According to the schedule, the President is expected to return to Dhaka on September 7.
The district has been abuzz with preparations and enthusiasm ahead of the President's arrival. A festive atmosphere has been created in and around Thakurgaon town since news of his visit spread.
Regarding the visit, Thakurgaon Press Club General Secretary Tanvir Hasan Tanu told BSS that leaders and activists at all levels, from the grassroots up, were elated after hearing the news. Everyone is eagerly waiting to see the President.
As part of beautification and welcome preparations, cleaning and painting work is underway on major roads, intersections and government offices across the town.
