President urges stronger police-public relations

President Md Sahabuddin has called for stronger relations with the public by ensuring transparency, accountability and professionalism in the police force.

In a message on the occasion of Police Week 2026 on Saturday, May 9, the president greeted and congratulated all members of the Bangladesh Police.

He said the integrity, dedication and discipline of the police force play a crucial role in the stability, good governance and development of a state. He also praised the professional and people-friendly role of the police during national events and crises.

The president noted that the nature of crime has become complex and multidimensional. Cybercrime, fraud using artificial intelligence and deepfake technology, militancy and human trafficking are on the rise.

To combat these, he emphasised equipping police personnel with modern technologies such as AI, data analytics, CCTV surveillance and digital forensics.

He said transparency and accountability must be ensured to uphold the image of the police. Police-public relations must be further strengthened through community policing, a service-oriented mindset and protection of human rights.
