Press Secretary advises students to stay aware of cyberbullying

Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Mohammad Shafiqul Alam, has urged students to be vigilant about the dangers of cyberbullying, warning that it can have serious negative consequences on their future careers.

Speaking at the National University’s first-year orientation programme held at Lalmatia Mohila College on Monday morning, Shafiqul Alam emphasized the importance of cyber literacy and media literacy for young learners in today’s digital age.

Students from over a hundred colleges affiliated with the National University joined the session virtually. Addressing them, the Press Secretary stated, “Engaging in online harassment or cyberbullying can adversely impact your professional life ahead.”

National University Vice-Chancellor Professor A M S Amanullah highlighted the university’s efforts to equip students with practical skills, including initiatives to promote freelancing and other career-oriented programs.

He also announced plans to rename all auditoriums and libraries of National University colleges in honor of the martyrs of the 2024 uprising.

Other speakers praised the bravery demonstrated by young people during the historic 2024 uprising and underscored the importance of innovative and creative teaching methods at the university.

The orientation program’s chief guest was Professor Dr. S M A Faiez, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), while Professor Dr. A M S Amanullah presided over the event.

Special guests included Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology; Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division; and Press Secretary Mohammad Shafiqul Alam.
