Primary teachers' 'shutdown' programme suspended

Stepping back from the ongoing movement with three-point demands, assistant teachers of government primary schools have announced the suspension of the complete shutdown programme. Along with this, it has been announced that annual examinations will be held in all government primary schools in the country from next Sunday (December 7).

A joint statement by the Primary Teachers' Demand Implementation Council and the Bangladesh Primary Assistant Teachers' Oikya Parishad around 12 midnight on Friday said that the shutdown or lockdown programme has been suspended during the examination period considering morality, humanity and the interests of the children-like students.

The statement further stated that the third quarterly evaluation (annual examination) of all classes will continue as usual from Sunday. It was also informed that the next program will be announced later based on the discussions of both councils.
