Prime Minister exchanges Eid greetings with armed forces personnel
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday (May 28) exchanged Eid-ul-Azha greetings with members of the Bangladesh Army and joined an Eid luncheon with officers, JCOs and soldiers at Dhaka Cantonment.
Upon arrival at the venue, the Prime Minister was received by Quarter Master General of the Bangladesh Army, Lieutenant General Mohammad Shahinul Haque.
Among others present at the programme were Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, Commander of the 46 Independent Infantry Brigade Brigadier General Syed Ashikur Rahman and Commanding Officer of the 25 East Bengal Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Md. Shafiqul Islam.
Addressing the soldiers briefly, the Prime Minister said he was deeply moved and delighted to return to the cantonment area, which holds many cherished memories for him. He recalled the discipline, camaraderie and sincerity of the armed forces personnel as experiences he continues to value profoundly.
Praising the professionalism and sense of duty of the Bangladesh Army, Tarique Rahman said the force has consistently stood beside the people during national emergencies, disasters and critical moments.
“The Bangladesh Army has long remained a symbol of trust in safeguarding the country’s independence, sovereignty and the security of its people,” the Prime Minister said. “Its contribution during national crises and in the country’s development journey will always be remembered by the nation.”
He expressed hope that every member of the armed forces would continue serving the nation with the same dedication, professionalism and patriotism in the days ahead.
Following the luncheon, the Prime Minister visited the soldiers’ lines, planted a sapling within the unit premises and signed the inspection book.
He later joined officers, JCOs and soldiers in a photo session and offered Zohr prayers alongside the armed forces personnel.
