Prime Minister hands over appointment letters to three persons with disabilities

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday (July 30) began his official schedule by handing over government appointment letters to three persons with disabilities, reaffirming the government's commitment to expanding employment opportunities and promoting their inclusion in the mainstream workforce.

The appointment letters were presented directly by the prime minister as he arrived at the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat.

The initiative aims to enhance the economic independence of persons with disabilities and ensure their greater participation in public service.

The recipients are Ayesha Akter from Saghata upazila of Gaibandha, Neela Khatun from Kamarkhanda upazila of Sirajganj, and Md Hasmat Ali from Narail Sadar.

All of the recipients expressed joy and gratitude after receiving their appointments.

Born without both hands, Neela Khatun completed her postgraduate studies by writing with her feet. She has been appointed as a teacher at the National Foundation for the Development of the Disabled in Mirpur of Dhaka.

Similarly, Ayesha Akter, who also lost both hands from birth, earned her postgraduate degree by writing with her feet. She received her appointment letter using her mouth and has been appointed Class Supervisor at BIAM Laboratory School and College in Gaibandha.

Meanwhile, visually impaired Md Hasmat Ali has been appointed as a Union Social Worker under the Department of Social Services.

The ceremony was attended by Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, State Minister Farzana Sharmin Putul, Social Welfare Secretary Dr Mohammad Abu Yousuf, Managing Director of the Bangladesh Foundation for Development of the Disabled Md Tarikul Alam, and Director General of the Department of Social Services Shah Mohammad Mahbub.

Welcoming the initiative, Bangladesh Disabled Welfare Association founder Abdus Sattar Dulal thanked the prime minister for creating employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. He later met the premier and expressed his appreciation.
