Prime Minister rides Wakimul’s ‘smart car’ at Tejgaon office

Young innovator Wakimul Islam, who has overcome physical disability through creativity and determination, showcased his self-developed “smart car” at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Saturday (May 9).

According to visuals released from the Prime Minister’s Office, Wakimul himself was seen driving the specially designed vehicle, while Prime Minister Tarique Rahman sat beside him in the passenger seat. During the ride, the two engaged in an extended discussion on the vehicle’s design, mechanical structure, and future development prospects.

The Prime Minister took a keen interest in the innovation, asking detailed questions about its engineering process, functionality, and the challenges Wakimul faced during development. He also inquired about potential improvements and future applications of the project.

Wakimul informed the Prime Minister that the smart car is still under development, with approximately 50 per cent of the work completed so far.

Wakimul’s father was also present at the Prime Minister’s Office during the event. The family expressed deep emotion and joy after receiving direct encouragement and recognition from the head of government, calling it a highly inspiring moment for the young inventor.
