Prime Minister Tarique Rahman holds first office at Tejgaon

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman began working from the Tejgaon office for the first time on Saturday (February 21), beginning his day at 10:10am.

Chief Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon welcomed him upon his arrival at the office.

Before entering the main building, he exchanged greetings with officials and staff who had served during the tenure of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, personally addressing many by name.

At the Tejgaon office courtyard, the Prime Minister planted a Golden Champa flower sapling and offered special prayers of gratitude.

Defence Adviser Brigadier General Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, PSC, G (Retd.), among other senior officials were present there.

Earlier in the week, Tarique Rahman began his official duties at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka. He first worked at the Secretariat on February 18, when he presided over his administration’s first cabinet meeting and received senior officials. He continued working from the Secretariat on February 19, holding engagements including meetings with the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force.

After the Tejgaon office session, the Prime Minister also inaugurated a special commemorative postage stamp to mark National Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day 2026.
