Prime Minister thanks Narendra Modi for Eid greetings
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending Eid-ul-Azha greetings to the people of Bangladesh, describing the gesture as “warm and cordial” and expressing hope for stronger ties between the two neighbouring nations.
In a message issued on Thursday (May 28) marking Eid-ul-Azha, the Prime Minister said he appreciated Modi’s greetings sent to both him and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the religious festival.
“I thank Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conveying Eid-ul-Azha greetings to me and the people of Bangladesh during this joyous occasion,” Tarique Rahman said.
Earlier in the day, Narendra Modi sent a congratulatory letter to the Prime Minister and the people of Bangladesh, reaffirming New Delhi’s commitment to strengthening people-oriented cooperation between the two countries.
According to the High Commission of India in Dhaka, the Indian Prime Minister conveyed greetings on behalf of the government and people of India to the “brotherly people” of Bangladesh.
In his message, Modi described Eid-ul-Azha as an integral part of India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, noting that millions of Muslims across India are celebrating the festival with joy and enthusiasm.
He also highlighted the universal values of sacrifice, compassion and brotherhood associated with Eid-ul-Azha, saying these ideals are essential for building a peaceful and inclusive world.
Referring to bilateral relations, Modi said India and Bangladesh share a deep bond rooted in shared sacrifices, cultural connections and mutual aspirations for peace, stability and prosperity.
