Prime Minister to visit Jashore on April 27
Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Jashore on April 27, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said on Monday night, April 6.
Khulna Division BNP Organising Secretary and Deputy Minister for Power and Energy Anindya Islam Amit confirmed the schedule, he added.
According to sources, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the re-excavation work of the Ulashi-Jadunathpur canal in Sharsha upazila, Jashore, as part of his nationwide canal excavation programme, a commitment from his election manifesto.
Nearly 50 years ago, on November 1, 1976, then president Shaheed Ziaur Rahman had initiated the excavation of this canal himself with a spade. The project is historically known as the 'Ulashi-Jadunathpur Project' or 'Zia Canal'.
The Prime Minister may also inaugurate several other development projects in Jashore during the visit.
