Prime Minister's residence to be determined as per BNP's demand: Public Works Adviser
The Ministry of Housing and Public Works had selected the state guest house 'Jamuna' as the residence of the new government's Prime Minister. However, Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan said that the Prime Minister's residence will be arranged as per BNP's demand.
He told reporters at the Secretariat on Monday February 16. The Public Works Advisor also said that 37 houses are ready for the members of the cabinet.
According to relevant sources, the interim government has decided to make Ganabhaban a 'July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum' to preserve the memory of the student-public uprising. In this context, a special committee took into consideration the residence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and the Defense Ministry area to determine the residence of the new Prime Minister. However, leaving the final decision to the elected government, it was decided to use the current principal advisor's residence, 'Jamuna', as the prime minister's residence for the time being.
After Dr. Muhammad Yunus leaves, Jamuna will undergo necessary renovations and be ready for the new prime minister. Officials concerned said that the renovation work may take one to two months to complete.
