Probe committee formed to investigate sound system disruption in parliament
A three-member probe committee has been formed to investigate whether the sound system disruption during the first day's session of the 13th National Parliament was an act of sabotage. The committee has been instructed to submit its report by April 3.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee held on Saturday, March 28. Committee President and Chief Whip Nurul Islam confirmed the matter to journalists after the meeting.
Due to a fault in the sound system during the first day's session on March 12, proceedings had to be adjourned for some time. The following day, Jamaat MP Shahjahan Chowdhury also expressed dissatisfaction over the headphone and audio system.
The Chief Whip said the committee, led by the Sergeant-at-Arms, will investigate the incident. He said it is initially suspected that the incident may have been an act of sabotage. Additionally, experts from BUET are being consulted to diagnose technical faults in the sound system.
The probe committee will primarily examine two issues: whether there was any sabotage involved in the incident, and the source of the actual problem with the sound system and its possible solution.
