Probe ordered into fire incident at Jatiya Sangsad building

A fire broke out at the office of the Executive Engineer of Public Works Department-1, located in the main building of the Jatiya Sangsad.

The incident occurred around 3:19pm on Tuesday, July 28. No casualties were reported.

According to a press release from the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot after receiving the news and brought the fire under control within a short time. The cause of the fire could not be confirmed immediately.

Upon hearing the news, Acting Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kaiser Kamal and the Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat visited the scene. They were briefed by concerned officials and issued necessary directives.

The Acting Speaker has ordered the formation of a probe committee to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, assess the extent of damage and recommend measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The press release said details about the cause of the fire and related matters would be disclosed after the committee submits its report.
