Production has been halted at around 25 garment factories in Savar's Ashulia due to ongoing labor unrest. Md Sarwar Alam, Superintendent of Ashulia Industrial Police-1, confirmed the closures of the factories on Wednesday morning (September 18). He said, "Production has been halted at 25 garment factories in Ashulia today. Of these, 20 factories are closed under Section 13(1). Additionally, workers initially reported for duty at 5 factories, but these were later declared to have a general holiday." "However, there have been no reports of disturbances. Additional police have been deployed, and army patrols are underway to prevent any untoward incidents," he added. Workers have claimed that they have been protesting for over 15 consecutive days for various demands. But garment factory owners have closed the factories without discussion and are refusing to address their concerns.

সাভারের আশুলিয়ায় শ্রমিক অসন্তোষের জেরে ২৫ পোশাক কারখানায় উৎপাদন বন্ধ রয়েছে। এ ছাড়াও এর মধ্যে বেশ কয়েকটি পোশাক কারখানায় সাধারণ ছুটি ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে শিল্প পুলিশ। বুধবার (১৮ সেপ্টেম্বর) সকাল ১০টার দিকে শিল্প পুলিশ-১ এর পুলিশ সুপার সারোয়ার আলম এ বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন। এ ব্যাপারে সংবাদমাধ্যমকে তিনি বলেন, আজও আশুলিয়ায় ২৫টি পোশাক কারখানার উৎপাদন বন্ধ রয়েছে। এদের মধ্যে ১৩ (১) ধারায় ২০ পোশাক কারখানা বন্ধ রয়েছে। এছাড়া ৫টি পোশাক কারখানায় শ্রমিকরা কাজে যোগ দিলেও পরে কারখানা সাধারণ ছুটি ঘোষণা করে। তবে কোথাও কোনো বিশৃঙ্খলার খবর পাওয়া যায়নি। যেকোনো অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনায় এড়াতে অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ মোতায়েন রয়েছে এবং সেনাবাহিনীর টহল অব্যাহত রয়েছে। পুলিশ সুপার আরও বলেন, কারখানা ছুটির পরে ও বন্ধ কারখানার সামনে পোশাক শ্রমিকরা অবস্থান নিয়েছে। এদিকে শ্রমিকরা জানান, বিভিন্ন দাবিতে টানা ১৫ দিনেরও বেশি দিন ধরে শ্রমিকরা আন্দোলন করছে। যে সমস্ত পোশাক কারখানার মালিকরা শ্রমিকদের সঙ্গে আলোচনা না করে কারখানা বন্ধ করে রেখেছে, শ্রমিকদের দাবি মেনে নিচ্ছে না-সেসব পোশাক কারখানায় শ্রমিকরা আন্দোলন করছে।
