Prof Matinur Rahman appointed new VC of Islamic University

Professor A K M Matinur Rahman of the Department of Public Administration has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University (IU). The Ministry of Education's Secondary and Higher Education Division issued a notification regarding the appointment on Thursday, May 14.

According to the notification, Professor Matinur Rahman has been appointed as VC under Section 10(1) of the Islamic University Act, 1980, with the approval of the Honourable President and Chancellor . He will serve a four-year term from the date of his joining.

During his tenure as VC, he will receive the same salary, allowances, and other benefits as his current position. As the chief executive officer of the university, he will be required to remain on campus full-time . The notification also stated that the President and Chancellor may cancel the appointment at any time if necessary.

Professor Matinur Rahman is the founding convener of the 'White Panel', an organisation of BNP-affiliated teachers at Islamic University. He is also an executive member of the University Teachers' Association of Bangladesh . He has served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and President of the Teachers' Association. He previously taught at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. He has published 34 research articles in national and international journals.
