Professor Sayedur Rahman reappointed after two days
Two days after his resignation as special assistant to the chief adviser was accepted, Professor Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman has been reappointed by the chief adviser to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus.
As before, he will serve in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the rank of State Minister and will have the executive powers of the ministry.
The appointment was confirmed in a notification signed by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid on Thursday (January 1).
In November last year, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus had appointed three people as special assistants with the rank of State Minister. Their responsibilities were to assist the advisers of the Ministries of Health, Home Affairs and Education and have the executive powers of the ministries.
Among them, the Home Ministry was in charge of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, who resigned on December 24. Professor M. Aminul Islam, who was in charge of the Ministry of Education, also resigned a few months ago.
Professor Sayedur Rahman, who was in charge of the Ministry of Health, submitted his resignation on December 30 and it was accepted. According to sources, he had originally resigned from Bangladesh Medical University to avoid complications related to retirement. However, this time he has been reappointed as a special assistant.
