BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury Mahmud has said that although no surprises were expected from the interim government regarding the budget, that there is no qualitative or structural change in it.

Noting that the budget should be based on revenue, he said the Awami League government has taken the size of the budget to an abnormal level, which has been followed this time too.

He said this at a press conference at Hotel Serena in Banani on Monday afternoon.

"To implement this budget, we will have to rely on debt. And if the government has to take a loan to run its business, the people will have to bear it. This is foreign debt. And if the government takes more loans from domestic banks, how will individual loans be given and how will business grow through individual initiatives?" he added.

"Therefore, there will be no job opportunities. Therefore, it was necessary to make a budget based on revenue, not debt."

In response to a question, he said that the BNP will make a statement on the budget on June 4.

In response to another question, he said that although he did not call this budget traditional, there was no structural change from the budget given by the previous government.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the basic aspects of the budget, Amir Khasru said that there are fundamental flaws in this budget.
