PSC chairman Professor Mobasser Monem to resign
Professor Mobasser Monem is stepping down from his position as chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC) due to health reasons. He is expected to submit his resignation letter on Tuesday, according to sources .
PSC Public Relations Officer Motiur Rahman confirmed the matter on Tuesday, August 18. He said the chairman had decided to resign due to physical illness .
Professor Mobasser Monem was appointed PSC chairman in October 2024 during the interim government . His appointment came after the then PSC chairman Md Sohrab Hossain and 11 other commission members resigned following the government change in the wake of the July uprising .
During his tenure, he was involved in various initiatives to make the government recruitment process more effective and transparent, including conducting BCS and other recruitment examinations.
However, Professor Mobasser Monem has said he is unable to continue due to his health condition. Once his resignation letter is received, the process of appointing a new chairman will proceed.
Meanwhile, the news of the chairman's resignation has sparked discussion among PSC officials and staff. However, no formal decision has been announced by the government regarding the acceptance of his resignation or the appointment of a new chairman.
