Puja Celebration Council expresses condolences over Chinmoy Das’s mother’s death

The Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad has expressed deep grief and condolences over the death of Sandhya Rani Dhar, mother of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson for the Sanatani Jagaran Jote who is currently in custody.

The organisation conveyed its condolences in a joint statement issued on Thursday (September 10) along with the Mahanagar Sarbojanin Puja Committee and the management committee of the Sri Sri Dhakeshwari National Temple.

According to the statement, Sandhya Rani Dhar breathed her last at around 9:34am on Thursday at the Sri Sri Pundarik Dham Ashram in Hathazari, Chattogram. She is survived by family members, relatives and many admirers.

In the joint condolence message, the leaders of the organisations said Sandhya Rani Dhar earned the distinction of being a “Ratnagarbha Ma”—a mother blessed to give birth to a remarkable child—for giving birth to a religious figure like Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari. They described her death as an irreparable loss to the Sanatani community and prayed for the peace and salvation of her departed soul.

The leaders also expressed their deep sympathy to the bereaved family members, relatives and devotees of Pundarik Dham, and prayed to Lord Krishna to give them strength to overcome their grief.

Sandhya Rani Dhar had earlier been undergoing treatment at the Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital after falling ill. Medical tests at the hospital detected cancer. However, she was unwilling to remain in the hospital. On Tuesday, she expressed her desire to return to Pundarik Dham Ashram, where Chinmoy Krishna Das had also lived for a long time.

Before her death, Sandhya Rani Dhar had a strong desire to see her son one last time. An application had been made seeking Chinmoy Krishna Das’s release on parole so that he could visit his ailing mother, but the opportunity was ultimately not granted. She died with her wish to see her son one last time unfulfilled.
